Bottom Alcoholics or Pathetically Republican III

It would seem that our Republican Senators have become the bottom alcoholics of the political world.  In case you didn't know a bottom alcoholic is one that keeps up their destructive habits until eventually he or she bottoms out.  This usually means catastrophic events in their lives such as losing their jobs and their families.

It is a sad thing to watch, however, in this case I think it is enjoyable to watch because I know that it is the first part of the fight to take back the GOP from the Country Club Conservatives.  Some of us and I hope many of us have had it with the elite that run our party and our government.  This group of GOP politicians whether House , Senate or in the Administration seem to be the furthest removed from their supporters than any that I can recall.

For those of you that have lived or worked in a socialist country you will recognize the same characteristics in our Country Club Conservatives.

Lets hope that our Senators have had their last drunken pull from the bath tub gin bottle called amnesty.  The difference is that in their case we will not help them out of the alley that they have put themselves in.  We will laugh at them like the drunken fools that they are.

Pathetically Republican II

redstate.com has pointed out the disconnect between the Republican leadership and the rest of us.  The change to the House Appropriations with a rep that is under suspicion of corruption is the highlighter to this issue.

The difference between redstate and myself is that they focus on the House Republicans and I say it is all Republican leadership whether that is in the White House, the House, the State or local level.  As I mentioned previously you will find more Republicans leadership at the local country club than you will at the local VFW.

This is a serious problem for conservative minded people.  An honest house cleaning, no pun intended, is all that will restore the party and the conservative movement.  The establishment of an us and them environment began many years ago and the gap between us and them is growing.  Many of our Senators have more in common with Nancy Pelosi than they do with you or I.

Limousine Liberals and Countyr Club Conservatives will never have the capacity to connect with us.  They live in different neighborhoods, walk in different circles and attend different functions than the people they are to represent.  McCain came to Yuma County last year to meet and greet and lets just say it was more like the Queen talking to her subjects than our Senator trying to find out what we want.

So I say get tough, write all Republican politicians and tell them you have had enough.

Pathetically Republican

Future dictionaries could very well define coward as lack of courage, shrinking in the face of adversity or simply use the word Republican to define its meaning.

We in the Republican party do not have political leaders whether they are local or federal.  We have coffee clutch queens that lack even the most basic resolve to take up the fight.  In Yuma County, Arizona, a strong conservative area, the Republican party got hammered in the last election because they get out organized by the Democrats.

The reason that has happened is because while the Democratic party has been taken over by grass roots people, the Republican party has been anchored to the local, state and federal elite of the party and they are dragging the rest of the party under water.

The Republican party is in desparate need of a house cleaning, a senate cleaning and a presidential cleaning.  We need to start by gutting the hold the local elites have on the Republican party.  In many counties and cities Republican events are more likely to be held in the country club than in a local hall.  Not so with the Democrats.

The Republican elite is uesless and needs to be replaced.  Now!

Where Have All The Tigers Gone

What is troubling in the VT shooting is that the survival instinct of the executed did not surface.  While we may yet here of people fighting back so far none have surfaced short of a single Professor.  I fear we are seeing the harvest of a social engineering experiement that has produced a generation of people conditioned to not strike back.  I should probably correct the statement that no survival instincts kicked in because some students apparently jumped out of windows rather than wait for their execution.  This is not quite the same as striking back to put an end to the threat.

I suspect that the people on Flight 93 that fought back against the Muslim hijackers were not of the same generation of those that stood against the wall at VT.  Perhaps if we begin to teach our young men to once more stand up to bullies, to fight back against evil and to set morality standards we will begin to see an end to these slaughters.

I am a retired Army officer, I work often with active duty soldiers and my son is a Marine and when I speak with this new generation of fighting men I see the next greatest generation.  I am hoping that these young men and women that are currently standing and fighting evil will rise to political and civic leadership and create a new generation that will serve more than themselves and will stand tall when it comes time to fight back against evil.

My son was taught how to defend himself from a very early age and has done so several times to stop bullies, protect his sister and his friends.  His sister was also taught to defend herself and has done so in the past.  They are not bullies and they are  willing to put themselves between those with harmful intent and those that are unable to fight back.  More sons and daughters need to be taught how to fight back and to be able to properly define the difference between right and wrong.

A Truly Great Quote

"The late Murray Kempton once described editorial writers as "the people who come down from the hill after the battle to shoot the wounded." Nowadays, media analysts are the guys who follow behind them, going through the pockets of the dead looking for loose change."

This is from a column by Tim Rutten in the LA Times and probably one of the best quotes of modern times.

Kimveer Gill, the 25 year old Fabreville, Quebec resident responsible for the death of one student and injuries to others after a shooting rampage at Dawson College in Montreal, Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006.

That picture you see is of Dimveer Gill a 25 year old that went on a shooting spree in Montreal Canada.  Someone certainly worthy of our contempt.  The rifle he is holding is a Beretta CX4 Storm 9mm and is a restricted weapon in that country.  The anti-gun movement now want all semi-automatic weapons banned.  The mother of the young lady that was killed has directed her anger squarely on the gun the killer is holding rather than the killer.  I pray that God will ease her grief and I think the anger she expresses is more than understandable and likely far more controlled than mine would be were I in her situation.,  However, I am certain that my anger would be directed squarely on the killer and the family that raised him.

You may recall a similar event in Montreal several years ago that was the catalyst behind Canada's gun control legislation.  The thing that strikes me in these events is how in the rage that followed politicians, reporters and family could seem to only focus on the gun and not the killer.  Even in the column in the National Post where this picture comes from, the reporter and the people inteviewed appear to be only able to see the gun and seem to relegate the killer to the status of a victim of this terrible piece of hardware.  The belief being that with out the hardware the killer would simply have gone on with his life leaving everyone else alone.  We know that is not true.

In all of these situations intent is a key factor and Gill had the intent.  His next task was to simply look for the means.  With other evil people like Gill their selection of means sometimes is to single out an individual, stalk, capture and kill out of sight rather than to do a frontal assault like Gill and Lepine.  The terrorist that drove his car into college students had intent and the means he selected was the vehicle rather than a gun.  It fit his ability to aquire the means and gave him the capability to carry out his intent.  Timothy McVeigh had intent and his means was a rental truck and fertilizer.

Imposing restrictions on society at large will not remove the killers from the street.  When intent matches means the result will always be the same.  It is also impossible to understand why people keep trying to build a correlation between gun ownership and hunting.  That is like building a correlation between vehicle ownership and commuting.  Both are silly arguments and would not have stopped the crimes outlined above.

Even with tight gun control in place Toronto, Canada is simply bristling with guns.  Unfortunately for the peace loving Canadians, and thanks to the gun ban passion of their Mayor, the guns are all in the hands of the gangs that terrorize Toronto's streets.  After the christmas shooting of the young girl in an upscale store in downtown Toronto the Mayor of that city said that this could all have been prevented if only the US would impose tighter gun control legilstaion.  Well Mr. Mayor your country is a shining example to the world of how restrictions imposed on law abiding citizens will not remove the intent of the killers.  Violent crime is as common as snowflakes in most Canadian cities.  The same holds true for England and Australia.  Attempts to restrict weapons has done nothing to remove intent from segments of the population and just in case any of you get the wild idea that back ground checks would have been helpful, Gill purchased his weapon legally.

Bombs, guns, knives, axes, clubs, ropes, vehicles, poison, hands, feet, sticks, stones, lamps, drowning, cement shoes, etc. an endless list almost and in the mindset of the people in gun ban countries all worthy of restriction.  Silly isn't it.  We all know, though won't admit, that intent is the real killer and killers with intent will always find the means regardless whether it is a wife running over her cheating husband with her car or the DC Sniper.

A Culture of Hate

The following quote was taken from Opinion Journal

When you read of this hate pledge one can't help but form a picture in their mind of the author screaming at their monitor while they wrote it, tin foil hat pulled roguishly to one side, Hillary 08 buttons bouncing on the lapel, designer coffee close at hand with extra espresso because they like to live on the edge.  This is followed by running to the corner coffee shop to tell friends about their blog and how they are just really not afraid to be agressive and confrontational especially since they have started with their new therapist and the pilates class that has a lot of really hot people at it.

Yep a real nut cruncher I am sure.

"That's the title of a Daily Kos post by "coolobserver":

Among many reasons, I hate America for the near-extermination and subsequent oppression of its indigenous population. I hate it for its role in the African slave trade and for dropping atomic bombs on civilians. I hate its control of institutions like the United Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and World Trade Organization. I hate it for propping up brutal dictators like Suharto, Pinochet, Duvalier, Hussein, Marcos, and the Shah of Iran. I hate America for its unconditional support for Israel. I hate its bogus two-party system, its one-size-fits-all culture, and its income gap. I could go on for pages but I'll sum up with this: I hate America for being a hypocritical white supremacist capitalist patriarchy.

He also refers to people who are offended by these views as "so-called patriots." It's almost enough to make you question his patriotism."

Religion Of Peace

The following quote was taken from foxnews.com.  It is truly getting harder to embrace that religion of peace thing isn't it.  The same people that support the Saudi's actions want tolerance to be the hallmark of other people's treatment of Muslims.  What is laughable is that the western supporters of the religious police would be at the end of the lash simply for their life style if they lived in Saudi Arabia.  Can you imagine the religious police working the beaches of California?  Not a pretty thought.

I do, however, think the socialists/liberals and the religious police might be able to find some common ground.  They both like to control other peoples lives and actions, they both hate white english speaking males, they both hate guns except if they are the only ones that can own them, they both agree with same sex marriage . . . wait that last one might be a stumbling block.  Scratch that.  I think it would be better for the western left to admire the religious police from afar but if you don't we reserve the right to say: I told you so.

"A Saudi Arabian judge sentenced 20 foreigners to receive lashes and spend several months in prison after convicting them of attending a party where alcohol was served and men and women danced, a newspaper reported Sunday.

The defendants were among 433 foreigners, including some 240 women, arrested by the kingdom's religious police for attending the party in Jiddah, the state-guided newspaper Okaz said. It did not identify the foreigners, give their nationalities or say when the party took place.

Judge Saud al-Boushi sentenced the 20 to prison terms of three to four months and ordered them to receive an unspecified number of lashes, the newspaper said. They have the right to appeal, it added.

The prosecutor general charged the 20 with "drinking, arranging for impudent party, mixed dancing and shooting a video for the party," Okaz said."

Treason By Another Name

It is almost impossible to watch our Senators as they wiggle around trying to find the most appropriate way to tell the world and our enemies that they don't support what our troops are doing.  Reasonable people can't  help but view their actions as being equal to the likes of Tokyo Rose during WWII.  While I have grown to accept such actions from the left it is hard to use the names of Hagel. Warner and Republican in the same sentence.

My son is getting ready for his second tour in Iraq and I view our Senators the same as if they were the terrorists that tried so hard to kill my son and his fellow Marines last year.

It is unlikely that either Hagel or Warner have the courage to walk into my son's squad bay and tell them that they believe our Marines and soldiers are not capable of winning this war and that they cannot in good conscience support their mission.  That would take courage, a quality of character that escapes our elected officials.

It is high time that the American people decided to turn their back on the fools in Washington and throw their support behind our troops where it is needed.  If that is done the war will be won.

Rock Solid Predictions

Let us not forget that the same people predicting us reaching the boiling point were the same people that predicted we would be hunting walrus off the coast of Florida to survive.

Lets look back on some of the predictions our tin foil hat friends have given us in the past:  acid rain; pollution killing our food supply; I vaguely recall humans having something to do with the Pacific Ring of Fire; rampant over population; oh and who can forget the spine chilling predictions of el nino heavens I didn't sleep for months; the total loss of the worlds forests (that was a good one); most laughable? you guessed it, Y2K, Whoo Hoo that end of the world thing was a nail biter wasn't it, and last but certainly not least the new ice age complete with the front cover of Newsweek just to lend the prediction credibility.

Yep, them scientists they are a clever bunch aren't they.  Makes you kind of want to check to see if they own any used car dealerships before you buy just in case.
